Immigration solicitors provide expert advice and legal representation across all UK immigration matters. We ensure your case is prepared accurately, compliant with current Home Office rules, and supported by strong evidence and legal arguments.
Yes. We will review the refusal letter, identify legal and evidential issues, and advise whether your best route is an appeal, administrative review, judicial review, or re-application. Each refusal is time-sensitive, so it is important to seek advice promptly.
Processing times vary depending on the application type, the time of year, whether Home Office further checks are required, and whether you choose a priority service. For example, some visas are processed in weeks, while complex matters such as asylum or appeals may take longer. During consultation, we will provide an estimated timeline based on your circumstances.

Immigration law is complex, and even small mistakes can lead to delays, refusals, or long-term complications. Home Office rules change often, requirements vary by visa type, and the burden is always on you to prove your case clearly and correctly.
Having a specialist solicitor means you don’t have to navigate this alone. We help you understand the rules, prepare strong evidence, prevent errors, and present your case with confidence. With expert guidance, the process becomes clearer, calmer, and far more secure, giving you the best chance of a positive outcome from the start.
With a specialist immigration solicitor, you get:
The right advice doesn't just support your application, it strengthens it.
A client approached us after their UK Spouse Visa application was refused on the basis that they did not meet the financial requirement. The decision was understandably worrying, the client believed they did meet the requirement, but wasn’t clear on exactly what evidence the Home Office expects or how the financial rules are applied in practice.
By this time the client sought advice, an appeal was not a realistic option for their circumstances, so the priority became understanding the refusal and making sure a new application was submitted correctly.
We reviewed the refusal notice in detail, identified where the previous application had fallen short, and explained the financial requirement in plain English, including which income route applied, what documents were needed, and how they must be presented to meet the specified evidence rules. Although the client’s circumstances were sufficient, the original application didn’t clearly demonstrate compliance in the way required by the Home Office.
We then supported the client through a fresh spouse visa application, creating a structured evidence plan, checking the documentation against the relevant requirements, and ensuring the financial information was properly evidenced and clearly set out. The new application was submitted with a stronger, better organised supporting pack that directly addressed the reasons for refusal.
The outcome: the client’s spouse visa application was approved, allowing the couple to move forward with confidence, having met the financial requirement correctly and with the right evidence in place.

To be eligible for a UK Spouse or Partner Visa, you must:
To be successful in your application for a UK spouse visa, you’ll need to meet several key Home Office requirements and provide supporting evidence. The requirements include:
You must prove your relationship is real and ongoing, typically through:
To sponsor a partner, the British or settled spouse must show a minimum income of £29,000 per year (as of April 2024, rising from £18,600). Alternatively, savings of at least £88,500 can be used if income is below that level. This is to prove that you can support yourselves without claiming public funds.
This money can come from employment, self-employment, pensions, or other eligible sources.
You’ll need suitable accommodation for you, your partner and any dependants that’s not overcrowded and meets UK housing standards. You will not have access to public housing in your own right on a UK spouse visa due to the visa’s ‘No Recourse to Public Funds’ condition.
Applicants must prove they can speak and understand English at CEFR Level A1 (for the first application), through:
If you require an English language test, the cost is typically around £150 and must be booked with a Home Office approved provider.
If your UK spouse visa has been rejected or refused, you will receive a refusal letter from the UK Home Office outlining their decision and the reason(s) they refused, citing the specific parts of the Immigration Rules that were not met.
Some of the most common reasons for a refused applications include your relationship not being accepted as ‘genuine and subsisting’, the financial requirements not being met, inadequate accommodation and incomplete or inconsistent information. This is why it is absolutely crucial that you have the correct evidence to be able to show that you meet all of the Home Office’s requirements.
A rejection at this stage can understandably feel incredibly disappointing, but we may still be able to help you.
We will review your situation to determine whether an appeal under Section 82 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 is the right way forward. If not, we can support you through a successful application.
